She’s got legs!
Why yes, yes I do.
Let’s be honest, there’s a lot of things about my body I’m not too keen on. But my legs, my legs are not one of them. I’ve always been blessed with pretty good legs, but all the damn squats, lunges, presses, and lifts my trainer has me doing are definitely working.
They’ve carried me at nearly 300 pounds and they carry me now. While I may be lighter, now they’re forced to carry me much farther and much faster. So, I try to listen to them. When they gripe, I pay attention. Lately they’ve been bitching A LOT. I’ve simultaneously been doing a heavy lifting/body building routine three days a week and trying to train for a half the other three days, with one day of rest. Lifting days also include cross training.
As you can imagine, my legs have been chronically fatigued. Which means my runs are slow. Which messes with my head in an incredible fashion.
On today’s run my right hip forced me to end at 6 instead of 7. I could have forced it, but what’s the point? I do this because I enjoy it. I do it for fun, for HEALTH, and because damnit I CAN.
That said, I’m loving lifting right now. It’s made an extraordinary difference in my body and I’m not willing to ease up on it. So, I’m quitting half training. I can’t dedicate the time. Or maybe I don’t want to. Either way, I’ll still run, but I won’t be married to a schedule or self imposed speed requirements.
That feels good to admit! Oh and I just so happen to have a massage later, so I’m hoping this hip issue is cleared up with that.
